Green for Luck at Ching-Chou Kuik

It's time for some more inspiration over at the Ching-Chou Kuik Challenge Blog. The challenge this month is 'Four-Legged Friends' and you can add your entry here
This week the team were challenged to use a colour we don't like or don't use very often.  I'm not the biggest fan of green, so I decided to use 'Green Moth Maiden' and created a good luck card using just one more colour.

  • Recollections laser cut paper pad, 'Boho' collection
  • Recollections paper flowers
  • Papermania buttons
  • ProMarkers - Moss, Khaki, Pastel Beige, Satin, Olive, Holly, Lush Green, Leaf Green, Pastel Pink, Apple, Meadow Green, Forest, Bright Green, Lime, Pine, Sunflower, Tulip & Buttercup

Beautiful Blossom Congrats

Andrea at Sheepski Designs hid a sneaky freebie in her Facebook group recently and I was very happy that it was the gorgeous 'Jean's Cherry Blossom', as I love colouring flowers.
So naturally I had to go ahead and make a lovely CAS card to show off the image.  I'm really liking doing this style of card at the moment.  So simple, yet striking and great for posting.

  • Pink card
  • Pearls
  • Sizzix Tim Holtz Celebration Script Words die
  • ProMarkers - Walnut, Cocoa, Raw Sienna, Blush, Holly, Forest, Moss, Pear, Rose Pink, Blossom, Baby Pink, Magenta & Warm Grey 1

Merry Christmoose

I was lucky enough to win a set of Canadian-themed stamps by Frog's Whiskers Ink from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine a few weeks ago, so thought I'd have a play with them.  It's been a while since I did any tapestry stamping so I used these stamps in conjunction with some other stamps I have, to create a Christmas card.  It feels weird to me now making a card without a digital stamp, but I realise how much I love playing with real stamps.
I can never get my writing as nice as I'd like when writing sentiments, but I didn't have anything suitable for this card. I really wanted to to a pun-ny sentiment!

Products used:

  • Cream card blank
  • Papermania snowflake stamps (free from a set in the magazine)
  • See-D's Morsels stamps 'Springtime Collection'
  • Frog's Whiskers Inks stamps 'Maple Leaf' & 'Moose'
  • Whispers inks
  • Black pen

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
  1. Stamping Sensations - August Anything Goes
  2. Power Poppy - Mix and Match
  3. ABC Christmas Challenge - P, Q & R (Quick & Red)

Mermaid in a Vase

Well I've already shown you the card I made for my friend's 50th birthday, so today I will show you her present.  We'd been talking a while ago and I said I really wanted to make a mermaid in a jar, so that's what I did!
I didn't want anything too cutesy, so chose to use 'Pin Up Mermaid' by JadeDragonne.  She's absolutely perfect for this project, sitting in her shell.  It was quite fiddly adding all the glass beads for bubbles. I couldn't get the invisible thread to knot big enough, so had to glue them in the end!
I'm so happy with how this project turned out. It's just what I had in my mind.

Product list:
  • Glass vase
  • Course stone granules
  • Shells
  • Plastic foliage
  • Glass beads
  • Cheesecloth
  • Starfish
  • ProMarkers - Burnt Sienna, Cinnamon, Tan, Dusky Pink, Almond, Cardinal, Ruby, Lipstick, Black, Aegean, Duck Egg, Cool Grey 5, Burgundy, Antique Pink, Pale Pink, Saffron, Blush, Satin, Slate, Violet, Lavender, Caramel, Sandstone, Vanilla & Cool Aqua
  • Sakura Gelly Roll, White

I am entering my mermaid into the following challenges:

  2. Morgan's ArtWorld - #15 Anything Goes
  3. Brown Sugar - #261 Anything Goes
  4. World Wide Open Design Team - #24 Anything Goes
